the following three items are assignments from a class i recently took. at the start of which i honestly knew nothing of js, but i am rather profficient in actionscript, and thus was able to pull off some fairly nifty solutions.

madlib generator >>

while lacking in strong ui or any design whatsoever, this is a pretty neat sentence generator. the count of sentences is based on the number of nouns you input, and will randomly assign the other parts of speech to the sentences. it has some simple language modification going on, and based on the number of rules it follows, you get some strong results. you also get some funny results, especially after you look at the code

again, mediocre ui, no prettification. you get what you pay for. ... this is a reasonably robust pay calculator for a single individual.

features:

• can calculate overtime based on daily (>8) or weekly (>40) hours
• can dynamically add any number of weeks
• toggle between print view and data view
• all generated in js only, no html (well, html generated via js)

this is an interpretation of space invaders, built 100% in javascript. if i had hair it would be grey. for those who are curious, this took about 40 hours, over two weeks. this is not counting the hours i lay in bed writing code in my head. :)

outstanding issues:

• no graphics or styling
• the game does not properly reset when it is over, so hitting 'play game' from the game over screen is ultimately futile
• the difficulty curve is absurd - good luck after level 2
• the enemies do not eat the shields, nor will they run into the ship

features to be proud of:

• all the code is 100% my own, tho there was of course much online help in figuring out many of the issues
• check out eventcenter.js - all mine, and it works smoothly and efficiently, maintaining scope even!
• fully object oriented
• a product of a sublime genius...hehe.
